Peter Scholze
Peter Scholze is a German mathematician whose work connects number theory and geometry. He received a Fields Medal in 2018 for advances centred on perfectoid spaces and related cohomology theories.
Early life
Berlin schooling
Born in Dresden, he grew up in Berlin and attended Heinrich Hertz Gymnasium. He won three gold medals and a silver at the International Mathematical Olympiad before studying in Bonn.
Career

Doctorate and professorship
Completed his doctorate under Michael Rapoport at Bonn and became a professor there.

Fields Medal
Received the medal and became a director at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics.

Worked with collaborators on prismatic cohomology and condensed mathematics.
