George Salmon

Early life

Cork and Trinity

The son of a linen merchant, attended school in Cork and entered Trinity in 1833. Graduated with first-class mathematics honours in 1839.

    Began teaching mathematics at Trinity.

    Theology

    Added a theological appointment after ordination.

  3. 1858–1867

    Donegall lecturer

    Held a mathematics lectureship.
