Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud
Indian jurist who participated in major Supreme Court decisions on privacy, equality and constitutional governance. Led the court from 2022 to 2024.
Early life
Legal education
Studied economics and mathematics at St. Stephen’s College, then law at Delhi University and Harvard. Completed a doctorate on affirmative action in 1986.

Family
His father Y. V. Chandrachud also served as Chief Justice, and his mother Prabha was a classical musician. Later married lawyer Kalpana Das after his first wife Rashmi’s death.
