Yi So-yeon is a South Korean researcher and astronaut who visited the International Space Station in 2008.

Early life

Education

Grew up in Gwangju and studied at KAIST, earning degrees in mechanics and a doctorate in biotech systems.

Career

    Became one of two finalists in South Korea’s astronaut programme.

    Spaceflight

    Launched aboard Soyuz TMA-12 on 8 April.

    Research and education

    Worked at KARI and later taught in the United States.
