Vlady

Russian-born Mexican painter who arrived in Mexico as a refugee with his father, writer Victor Serge. His career combined easel painting with large historical mural projects.

Early life

Exile and art

His family left the Soviet Union in 1936. In Belgium and France he encountered modern art and studied in artists’ workshops.
