U. R. Ananthamurthy
U. R. Ananthamurthy was a Kannada novelist, critic and academic associated with the modernist Navya movement. His fiction examined the tensions between inherited customs and individual conscience.
Early life
Early schooling
Began his education in a traditional Sanskrit school in Karnataka.

Completed a doctorate at Birmingham in 1966 after studying at Mysore.
