Sverre Fehn

Sverre Fehn was a Norwegian architect whose restrained modern buildings respond to their sites and historical surroundings. He received the 1997 Pritzker Architecture Prize.

Early life

Architectural training

Graduated from Oslo’s architecture school in 1949. Travels in Morocco and work with Jean Prouvé influenced his approach.

Career

    Opened his own studio.

    International recognition

    Designed Norway’s pavilion at the Brussels World Exhibition.

    Teaching

    Taught at the Oslo School of Architecture.
