Ron Johnson

Ron Johnson was an American swimmer and coach whose career included national-team work in Mexico and Brazil.

Early life

Swimming education

Swam for Beaumont High School in St. Louis, then the University of Iowa from 1949 to 1953.

Career

  1. 1967–1974

    Mexico coach

    Led Mexico’s national programme, including two Olympic teams.

  2. 1976–1993

    Arizona State

    Coached the university’s swimmers.

  3. 1992

    Brazil team

    Coached Brazil at the Barcelona Olympics.
