René Lacoste

René Lacoste was a French tennis champion and clothing entrepreneur. A member of France’s Four Musketeers, he combined major titles with Davis Cup success before establishing the Lacoste sportswear business.

Early life

Learning tennis

He took up the sport at fifteen during a visit to England and pursued intensive practice in his teens.

Career

    Breakthrough season

    Won the French Championships and Wimbledon.

    American title

    Won the US Championships.

  3. 1927–1928

    Davis Cup

    Helped France win and then retain the trophy.
