Ralph M. Steinman
Canadian physician and researcher whose work revealed an important class of immune cells. His discovery at Rockefeller University was recognised by the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Canadian childhood
Grew up in Sherbrooke, where his family ran a clothing shop. Studied at McGill and Harvard Medical School before clinical training in Boston.
