Indian writer and critic from Puducherry who combined journalism with novels, stories and plays. His historical fiction received the Sahitya Akademi Award.

Tamil education
Born Vaidyalingam, he attended school in Puducherry and trained as a Tamil scholar at Karandhai College. Began working as a teacher.
