Patrick Roy is a Canadian former ice-hockey goaltender who won championships with Montreal and Colorado. His success helped popularise the butterfly style of goaltending.
Early life
Quebec roots
Grew up in Cap-Rouge and became interested in goaltending as a child.
Junior hockey
Played for the Granby Bisons before Montreal drafted him in 1984.
Career

Montreal Canadiens
Established himself in the NHL and became a championship-winning starter.
- 1995–2003
Colorado Avalanche
Moved to Colorado and added two more Stanley Cups before retiring.

Coaching
Coached the Quebec Remparts, Colorado Avalanche and New York Islanders.
