Park Seo-bo

Park Seo-bo was a South Korean painter associated with Dansaekhwa, a movement known for restrained colour and attention to materials and process. His work developed from postwar abstraction into decades of rhythmic mark-making.

Early life

Drawing

Loved copying paintings as a child, although his father wanted him to study law.

Interrupted education

His studies at Hongik University were disrupted by the Korean War.
