Oumou Sangaré
Oumou Sangaré is a Malian singer and songwriter whose music combines regional traditions with direct social commentary. She also developed business and humanitarian interests alongside her recording career.
Early life
A singing mother
Grew up in Bamako with her mother, singer Aminata Diakité, whose family came from the Wassoulou region.
Singing for income
Began performing as a child to help support her family and later toured with a percussion group.

Recorded Moussoulou, which reached a large West African audience.
