Nadezhda Kuzhelnaya
Nadezhda Kuzhelnaya is a Russian engineer and former cosmonaut who trained for space missions but never flew in space.
Early life
Education
Initially studied building engineering, then enrolled at the Moscow Aviation Institute after being inspired by Svetlana Savitskaya’s spaceflight.
Career

Space engineering
Joined RKK Energia to design spaceflight equipment.

Cosmonaut selection
Entered training at the Gagarin centre.

Backup crew
Served as a backup for a mission to the International Space Station.

Airline flying
Left the cosmonaut corps and joined Aeroflot.
