Lope K. Santos
Filipino writer, language advocate and politician whose literary work addressed labour and social reform. He also helped shape the development of a national language through grammar and orthography.
Early life
Pasig and Pandacan
Born in Pasig and raised in Pandacan, he studied in Manila. His father’s imprisonment for possessing revolutionary writing formed part of the family’s political background.

Began publishing Banaag at Sikat in a labour periodical.

Was elected governor of Rizal.

Was appointed governor of the province.
