Friedrich August Stüler

Friedrich August Stüler was a Prussian architect whose museums, churches and royal commissions helped shape nineteenth-century Berlin.

Early life

Training

Began architectural studies in Berlin in 1818 and worked in the circle of Karl Friedrich Schinkel.

Career

    Royal building service

    Joined the leadership of royal construction projects.

  2. 1842

    Royal architect

    Appointed architect to Frederick William IV.

  3. 1843–1855

    Neues Museum

    Designed the museum on Berlin’s Museum Island.
