Bobby Jones
Bobby Jones competed as an amateur while building a career in law. After winning the leading British and American championships in one year, he retired from regular competition and helped create Augusta National.
Early life
East Lake
Learned golf at Atlanta’s East Lake course, encouraged by his father.
Young contender
Won the Georgia Amateur and reached the US Amateur quarter-finals in 1916, aged 14.
