Atomi Kakei

Atomi Kakei combined the arts with girls’ education in Meiji-era Japan. Her school taught classical learning alongside practical subjects, within the social expectations of her period.

Grew up in Osaka with parents who taught at a private school, studying Chinese classics, calligraphy and painting.
