Ali Hassan Mwinyi
Ali Hassan Mwinyi was Tanzania’s second president, serving from 1985 to 1995. His administration eased restrictions on private enterprise and introduced multiparty politics.

Teaching
Educated in Zanzibar, he worked as a teacher and head teacher before entering politics. He also studied education in Britain.
