Agustín Eyzaguirre was a Chilean politician and merchant who participated in independence-era governing juntas and later briefly held the presidency.

Early life

Education

Studied law and theology at the Real Universidad de San Felipe, graduating in 1789.

Career

  1. 1813–1814

    Governing junta

    Served in the provisional government.

  2. 1823

    Return to government

    Joined the junta following Bernardo O’Higgins’s resignation.

  3. 1826–1827

    Presidency

    Succeeded Manuel Blanco Encalada before resigning amid political and financial crises.
